State Licensing Requirements

If you are interested in pursuing post-secondary education within your state you should check with your state to understand the requirements. States may impose requirements for receiving state financial aid. For example, an online High School diploma may not be recognized by some colleges and universities within your state to receive financial aid. We recommend you check with the institution for any specific restrictions - this is particularly important for residents of New York.

Benefits of a High School Diploma in Georgia

There are plenty of benefits to having a high school diploma in Georgia. The benefits include

  1. Earning more money. A high school graduate in Georgia can earn as much as $6,072 more per year than someone who didn’t graduate.*
  2. Qualifying for more jobs. Today, more jobs than ever require a high school diploma or GED to qualify you to be hired. Even when a job doesn’t necessarily require a diploma, having one on your resume can help you stand out and be more competitive in the job market over someone who doesn’t have their high school diploma.
  3. Qualifying for promotions. Even if your job didn’t require you to have a diploma to get hired, most higher positions do require you to have one. For example, if you’re working in a retail position and want to become a shift manager or lead, your employer may not consider you for the role without a high school diploma, even if you have the most job experience.
  4. Preparing for college. Many colleges will accept either a high school diploma or GED for admission, but high school may help you better prepare for college-level classes and even help you stand out when applying to schools. In high school, whether you learn online or at a traditional school, you’ll complete coursework and assignments that teach you skills that will be useful in college classes. You even have the opportunity to prepare for college classes through electives like advanced English, math, and science classes.
  5. Learning lifelong skills. Besides helping you qualify for more jobs or prepare for college, earning your high school diploma can help you build skills that you’ll use in your everyday life. From time management skills to critical thinking skills, your classes and assignments teach you more than just what you’ll find in your lessons and exams.
