ART020 Drawing Essentials
This course provides an overview of critical concepts for the artist including two-dimensional design and perspective. In addition the student will obtain instruction and practice in basic drawing techniques. The course includes a sketching kit and a DVD that demonstrates basic techniques.

ART090 Using Watercolors
This course describes the various tools and materials for watercolors and explains to the student how the tools and materials are used. It also explains how to set up an area for watercolor painting and the important characteristics of watercolors. Students will learn how to handle a watercolor brush properly, as well as how to draw with a watercolor brush. Students will also learn how to apply various types of washes and control the amount of blending that occurs between two colors. This course also describes the process for producing special effects, such as scratching, scraping, blotting, drybrushing, lifting out, scrubbing out, spattering, applying opaque paint, and masking. Finally, the student will follow step-by-step instructions for creating a watercolor painting.

ART075 Presentation and Business Skills for the Artist
To begin this course, the student will learn the basic techniques of matting and framing artwork. The student will then learn how to develop and present a professional portfolio as well as techniques related to finding employment (freelance) and selling your work. This course also covers basic business skills for the artist including basic contracts, copyright laws related to art, setting fees, invoicing, and basic tax concerns.
